Nielsen Named a Top Company for Women and Diverse Managers

Nielsen earned the No. 4 spot on Diversity MBAโ€™s 2016 rankings of โ€œBest Places for Women & Diverse Managers to Work.โ€ This honor follows a series of workforce diversity and inclusion recognitions for the company.

Here is a list of company milestones that we are proud to share:

  • Increased retention across diverse groups, and increased racial/ethnic representation at 36% of the U.S. workforce. Both global and U.S. female representation are at or above 50%, with women in over one-third of Nielsen senior leadership (senior vice president or higher) roles.
  • Increased ERG (employee resource group) membership by 3.5%, with 38% of employees participating in at least one ERG.
  • Hosted second-annual ERG Experience Week (enERGize) to build awareness of the value of ERGs. More than 6,500 employees participated in enERGize, representing 57 countries and 86 eventsโ€”10 were client engagements.
  • Introduced โ€œUnconscious Biasโ€ training to bring awareness to all managers around hidden biases and recognizing and mitigating them in daily leadership decisions.
  • Launched the Nielsen Supplier Diversity Academy with a financial webinar for diverse suppliers, hosted by Nielsen Chief Financial Officer, Jamere Jackson.
  • Hosted first Diverse Supplier Competition, providing small diverse businesses with pro bono consulting services.
  • Produced the “Proudly Setting Trends: 2015 LGBTโ€ report and the โ€œServing our Military Consumersโ€ and โ€œRoger That: Reaching Todayโ€™s Military Consumersโ€ reports. These reports were created by Nielsen ERGs, and the content has gained the attention of clients and resulted in increased revenue opportunities for the company.
  • Kicked off third Diverse Leadership Network class (an 18-month leadership development program). In 2015, the program had 100% retention of its alumni and 100% in new roles.
