Country music has come a long, long way since its southern forbearers first picked up a banjo and re-interpreted what was traditional European roots ballads. In fact, the genre has been branching out ever since and, these days, it’s one of the most popular radio formats in many parts of the U.S. We looked at country music—from the crossover appeal of its talent to the fans themselves—and found some unique numbers.
