Sydney, Australia – 24 April 2017: The number of Australians accessing content online is nearing 20.1 million according to the latest Nielsen Digital Ratings (Monthly) data released today. Access via smartphone is a key driver of that growth – with smartphone unique audiences reaching 14 million in March 2017 – up 6% versus the same month the prior year.

Latest data released today by Nielsen revealed 13.5 million Australians went online for their news and current affairs information during March 2017 – up 2% when comparing both the same month the prior year, and the prior month. Accessing content via a desktop remains the main method for access of this content – up 4%. However, growth in unique audiences when comparing March 2017 with February 2017 is also strong for smartphone (+3%) and tablet (+13%) devices.
Sette delle prime dieci entità nella sottocategoria eventi attuali e notizie globali hanno aumentato l'audience unica a marzo 2017 rispetto al mese precedente, secondo i dati Nielsen Digital Ratings (Monthly).
News.com.au è ancora al primo posto con un pubblico unico di oltre 5,7 milioni di persone, con un aumento dell'1% rispetto al mese precedente.
ABC News ha registrato un aumento significativo dell'audience unica ed è balzata al secondo posto con 4,9 milioni (+19%), Nine.com.au è al terzo posto senza variazioni nell'audience unica di 4,6 milioni rispetto a febbraio e Smh.com.au è al quarto posto con un'audience unica di 4,1 milioni (-4%).
Daily Mail Australia (3,2 milioni, +9%) e The Guardian (2,8 milioni, +6%) hanno mantenuto la quinta e la sesta posizione nella classifica degli ascolti.
La BBC è rientrata nella top 10 al settimo posto con un'audience unica di 2,5 milioni (+14%), seguita dall'Herald Sun all'ottavo posto (2,5 milioni, +12%), dal Daily Telegraph al nono (2,5 milioni, +6%) e da Yahoo 7 News al decimo posto (2,4 milioni, -4%).
