More than 100 Nielsen associates from the Philippines volunteered to participate in the seventh Nielsen Global Impact Day (NGID). This year, associates traveled to the Las Piñas-Parañaque Critical Habitat & Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA) to clean up the coast and to plant mangrove seedlings.
According to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, LPPCHEA is recognized as a wetland of international importance by the Ramsar Convention because of the critical role that it plays in the survival of threatened, restricted-range and congregatory bird species.
“The Philippines is one of the most disaster-prone countries with threats from earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions,” said Patrick Cua, managing director of Nielsen in the Philippines. “But of all these hazards, Filipinos are in constant danger of typhoons. Cleaning the coastal area and planting mangroves not only helped in preserving this habitat for migratory birds; our activities also aided in ensuring the protection of the coastal communities of Las Piñas and Parañaque from storm surges and high tides.”
O NGID é o dia anual de serviço da Nielsen. Este ano, mais de 24.000 colaboradores da Nielsen de 91 países se ofereceram como voluntários em mais de 1.450 eventos, doando seu tempo, habilidades e conhecimentos para beneficiar suas comunidades.
